Softball: Everything You Should Know About It

Softball is a game in which two teams of nine players each attempt to hit small, spherical, pitched balls with large, soft bats. Teams consist of four infielders, two outfielders, a pitcher, a catcher, a first baseman, a designated hitter, and a coach. The object is to score more runs than the other team by accumulating more hits, either in an inning or an entire game. Each player on the home team wears a glove and bears the informal name of the position they play on the team. In 2019, the International Softball Federation recognized softball as an Olympic sport.
